Primary Purpose: The Data Compliance Coordinator will assist the Director of Information Systems/District PEIMS Coordinator in the preparation and submission of all state and federal reporting requirements. The Data Compliance Coordinator will also work closely with both business and student application teams to ensure a high level of data quality by performing audits and reviewing procedures.
The goal of the Data Compliance Coordinator is to monitor information systems data to ensure a high level of data quality at all times, for the purposes of required reporting as well as in-district analysis.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Degree in Computer Science or Information Management Systems preferred
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Working knowledge of local, state and federal requirements for data reporting and ability interpret new requirements, including the PEIMS Data Standards and Student Attendance Accounting Handbook
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Access, Word, Power Point, One Note and Share Point
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in data extraction methodologies such as SQL and the ability to apply them to the needs of the position;
- Demonstrated knowledge of TSDS
- Knowledge and experience with microcomputer hardware/software
- Demonstrated ability to identify and query for data anomalies
- Demonstrated ability to perform in-depth audits
- Demonstrated experience with relational database systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical material and specifications;
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical support and training
- Ability and temperament to adapt quickly to a technically changing environment;

Experience:
- Minimum five years’ professional level experience utilizing data applications systems for the purpose of PEIMS and Office of Civil Rights reporting
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Works on the collection, integration and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submission and other state or federal requirements
- Responsible for training staff on data requirements including but not limited to Special Education and Limited English Proficiency
- Performs internal audits to ensure TEA document regulations are met
- Coordinate responses to TEA audits
- Coordinates a timeline for required data reporting and ensure that timelines are met
- Responsible for compliance with Performance Based Monitoring
- Assisting with PID reporting and the assignment of Texas Unique ID for both student and staff
- Runs edits, reports and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy of information prior to submission deadlines
- Comply with and stay current with state and federal requirements and apply that knowledge to district procedures
- Provides training and makes presentations to district employees in one-on-one as well as group sessions to enable them to properly implement and manage applications related to PEIMS reporting
- Develops, produces and maintains written documentation and training materials for areas of responsibility
- Determine data reports and schedules needed to ensure high quality data
- Maintain a basic understanding of Student, Finance, Human Resource applications as they relate to PEIMS and OCR reporting
- Coordinate meeting and activities for the implementation of new/updated federal, state, local district reporting requirements with all levels of district staff and administration
- Recommends changes or improvements to procedures, applications, and/or programming when needed for data collection, maintenance, and improved efficiency
- Creates ad-hoc reports for the purposes of monitoring data
- Takes initiative in determining needs for better data quality and working with the appropriate team to accomplish those goals
- Identifies and reports data anomalies to the appropriate team members
- Initiates activities among clerical and professional staff that encourage sound time management practices with respect to data collection and maintenance
- Performs complex reconciliation and correction tasks with respect to special populations data and/or data that is reported to TEA via PEIMS
- Performs other duties as assigned
