Job Title: Elementary Music Aide

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

 

  • Associate's Degree, 48 Semester hours, or Academic Assessment.
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited HS or GED Program
  • Texas Accredited School to meet the No Child Left Behind requirements.

 

            Special Knowledge Skills:

 

  • Good understanding of musical terminology and/or ability to perform music
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with teacher(s) and students.

 

Experience:

  • Some experience working with children.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist the elementary music teacher in preparing material for instruction, maintain bulletin

board displays, and operate audiovisual equipment.

  • Provide clerical assistance, duplicate materials, maintain student records, and perform some of

the duties of an educational materials assistant.

  • Work as an instructional assistant, demonstrate skills and instruct students while under the supervision of the music teacher.
  • Supervise students before school and during lunch period.
  • Attend Fine Arts meetings, clinics, and in-service workshops.
  • Work with the principal, supervisory staff and music teacher in identifying and solving problems related to his/her students.
  • Interact with students to promote a positive school image to enhance the learning process.
  • Promote positive community relations through effective communication.
  • Demonstrate professional attitude in performing designated responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and creativity in assisting the music teacher to maintain a well-disciplined classroom environment conducive to music education.
  • Dress professionally and appropriately.
  • Effectively perform other duties and functions assigned by the Principal, Music Teacher, and the Director of Fine Art.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the Principal may assign.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
