Primary Purpose: The Instructional Facilitator (IF) provides both instructional and non-instructional support to a supervising teacher. The IF manages procedures and supervises students during instructional delivery, transitions, lunch, recess, assemblies, and other activities. The IF also facilitates instruction by supervising projects, skills practice, digital learning, and/or by instructing students individually, or in small groups. All activities are directed by the supervising teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma
- At least 45 college hours (required)
- At least one year of successful experience in an educational setting (preferred)
- Knowledge of subject matter
- Must be working on obtaining bachelor’s degree and or obtaining teacher certification

Classroom and School Environment

- Manage student behavior at all time
- Monitor independent student work while teacher provides instruction
Instruction
- Facilitate classes, tutor small groups and individuals to reinforce learning concepts presented by the supervising teacher
- Supervise projects, skill practice, and virtual lessons presented by supervising teacher
- Collaborate with supervising teacher to plan and prepare lessons and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
- Observe students’ performance and record relevant data to assess progress
Professional Responsibilities
- Solicit and eagerly receive feedback from supervisor and team members to improve professional skills
- Attend and participate in PLCs with supervising teacher as applicable
- Implement appropriate instructional strategies to ensure student success
- Maintain administrative duties on behalf of teacher such as taking attendance, entering grades, scheduling parent conferences, preparing student activities and assignments, checking homework, and additional paperwork
- Collaborate with teacher(s), tutor(s), and digital lab monitor(s), as applicable
- Participate in professional development as required
- Other duties as assigned
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Must be able to move objects up to 20 pounds and use abdominal and lower back muscles for support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina. |
