Job Title: Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Coordinator (MTSS)                 

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to:  Executive Directors of Curriculum & Instruction               


Pay Grade:  5

Supervises:  N/A

Primary Purpose: Provide coaching and support to school administrators, teachers, and other school personnel on campuses throughout ECISD for identification in areas of need for students who are in the MTSS process. Assist with intervention concepts and implementation when necessary. Assist school personnel by staying adept to current research-based interventions that meet targeted student needs. The support provided to campuses varies in the areas of: classroom management, intervention strategies, and behavioral support and management strategies to support MTSS implementation from tier to tier.

           

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).

Special Knowledge Skills:

  • Knowledge of MTSS process
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques
  • Be able to provide professional development in different areas surrounding MTSS to campus leaders, teachers and district team members
  • Background knowledge of special education (preferred)
  • Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds and learning needs 
  • Experience with administering reading assessments (running/reading records, reading inventories, computer adaptive assessments) 
  • Ability to use data to make appropriate instructional decisions
  • Knowledge of best practices in the area of reading interventions 
  • Knowledge of state and federal requirements and guidelines for response to intervention 
  • General knowledge of elementary literacy and mathematics curriculums
  • Ability to plan and present professional development 
  • Ability to lead and facilitate professional learning communities 
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds 
  • Knowledge of state and district content standards and knowledge of district school improvement initiatives, including content standards, effective instruction, and assessment practices 
  • Skills in collaboration, curriculum development, and the use of data to improve student success 
  • Have knowledge of current research related to MTSS.
  • Have an understanding of evidence-based research for intervention.

Experience:

  • Five years’ experience teaching.
  • Experience in planning and conducting staff development sessions
  • Evidence of successful classroom experience through data reports and references

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support and promote the District's mission, goals and objectives.
  • Work cooperatively with building principals and staff to assure the MTSS program is in compliance with all district, state and federal guidelines.
  • Provide coaching and support to school administrators, teachers, and other school personnel
  • Responsible for monitoring student progress through the MTSS process.
  • Make recommendations to schools on appropriate resources to support MTSS programs
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds                        
  • Coordinate district MTSS support meetings with campus principals.
  • Chair MTSS intervention and assigned district meetings. 
  • Plan, develop, and deliver ongoing professional development for administrators and teachers with respect to MTSS.
  • Support campus administrators and teachers in documenting student progress.
  • Design, coordinate, and present in-service activities for campus administrators and staff including new teacher orientation.
  • Work directly with campus interventionists and classroom teachers on best practices in reading instruction/intervention, using data to select targeted interventions, and student monitoring.
  • Analyze MTSS services for effectiveness and implement appropriate changes when necessary to improve the overall program 
  • Support district and campus personnel with MTSS application of student data management system
