Job Title: Part-Time Piano Accompanist Wage/Hour Status: $40 per Hour
Reports to: Executive Director of Fine Arts Pay Grade: Hourly

Primary Purpose: The piano accompanist will accompany school music ensembles during rehearsals and concerts, assist the director in the leading of section rehearsals and concerts, and the coaching of individuals and small ensembles.

- Advanced piano playing
- Music theory, harmony, rhythm, composition, and transposition
- Meaning of musical terms, signs, and abbreviations
- Popular, semi-classical, and classical music styles
- Vocal and instrumental techniques
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Perform piano accompaniment for practice, rehearsals, and performances of school ensembles.
- Assist rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student mistakes and problem areas, correcting mistakes and providing the right notes and rhythms.
- Coach solos and ensembles including teaching notes and rhythm, recognizing and resolving intonation problems, teaching good vocal/instrumental techniques, providing suggestions regarding interpretation of music and encouraging students.
- Other related duties, as assigned, to assist the director prepare students for competitions and public appearances.

Music classroom environment and concert stage - accompany groups, soloists and small ensembles during day or evening concerts.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Subject to sitting at piano for long periods of time. Occasionally stand and/or stairs, etc.
