Primary Purpose: To provide parent training workshops in collaboration with Elementary staff; to provide a support network to students and parents by facilitating services provided by Title One Priority Schools Grant and community service agencies to maximize educational opportunities for students in at-risk situations.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Bilingual proficiency preferred
Experience:
- Experience with computer technology.
- Experience in community involvement programs.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as a member of the Parental Involvement Team.
- Promote a positive image and convey a genuine concern for the involvement of each parent.
- Develop and promote activities designed to involve parents in the school and community.
- Establish and maintain a family resource library.
- Prepare instructional materials for parent training workshops for the campus.
- Assist with record keeping and reports as required for the campus.
- Have knowledge of instructional materials an equipment used in the family involvement program.
- Conduct parent meetings at school, home, or other community locations for the campus.
- Make home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information, promoting school involvement, and encouraging parent participation.
- Serve as a liaison between home and school.
- Maintain an inventory of services offered by community health and welfare agencies and disseminate information to families.
- Maintain direct contacts and close working relationships with personnel from the campus and community service agencies.
- Inform appropriate school personnel of parent concerns; prepare materials and conduct parenting workshops as requested by campus.
- Prepare all written materials in English and Spanish.
- Present workshops at various times during the day and evening.
- Perform duties in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Prepare an evaluation summary of each workshop for campus administrator and program supervisor/s.
- Assist with parent contact during student tutorials.
- Assist with parent ESL classes; attend professional development activities that enhance job performance.
