Primary Purpose: The goal of the Speed Education Clerk is to assist the speech Therapy Department in clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Special Knowledge Skills:
- Computer skills in Word, Excel and Access.
- Filing, duplicating and other office skills as needed.
- Knowledge of Special Education (preferred)
Experience:
- Ability to organize duties and time.
- Ability to maintain professional working relationship with speech language pathologists and administrators.
- Other duties as assigned.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Attend and assist in preparation of all Speech Language Pathologist meetings.
- Assist the Speech Language Pathologist in filing material when not in use.
- Responsible for maintenance of state student folders.
- Assist in verification of SEMS and PEIMS data.
- Assist the Speech Language Pathologist in preparing work materials, e.g., copying, laminating, typing, etc.
- Ability to use assistive technology.
- Complete necessary paperwork for Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) and full individual evaluation (FIE) under the guidance of a licensed speech language therapist.
- Gather information related to three-year re-evaluations under the guidance of licensed speech language therapist.
- Be subject to split assignment for split therapy assistance.
- Attend and meet required district hours of staff development.
- Learn new computer software as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of student testing, diagnosis, status and personal information.
- Assist therapist in keeping orderly records.
- Maintain professional appearance and behavior.
- Pursue punctuality and dependability.
- Schedule ARD meetings for therapists.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent districtwide travel. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Must be able to lift up to 120 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
