Primary Purpose:

Responsible for the preventative maintenance, inventory, and repair or installation of kitchen equipment.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• HVAC certified
• 1-2 years experience in electrical/electronic control systems.
• 1-2 years experience in installing and servicing commercial kitchen equipment.

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Interact and communicate with department and other district personnel to maintain cooperative relationships.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification.
• Valid and current Texas Driver’s License-Class C.
• Working towards Texas Association of School Nutrition Level V Certification.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• On-call 24/7 for emergency needs related to School Nutrition kitchens or equipment.
• Installs, maintains, and monitors new equipment projects.
• Assists with a preventative maintenance schedule for all kitchen equipment.
• Assists with the bi-annual inventory of all kitchen equipment.
• Ability to maintain maintenance records and prepare reports.
• Maintains storage warehouse and service truck with the material necessary to keep kitchens operating properly.
• Willingness to cooperate with and assist maintenance department personnel as needed for kitchen repairs.
• Ability to prioritize and complete work requests in a timely manner. Highly self-motivated.
• Maintains an attitude of mutual respect and courtesy.
• Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
• Reacts positively to constructive criticism and suggestions.
• Works independently or collaboratively with others in a wide variety of circumstances.

Working Conditions:

Mental Conditions/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling;

moderate lifting and carrying; some stooping, bending, and kneeling; frequent exposure to extreme

hot and cold temperatures. The School Nutrition Warehouse is a cold storage facility with temperatures ranging from -19 to 70 degrees.
