Job Title: Operations Manager-Safety Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Supervises: Assigned Driver Supervisors or part-time Trainers and Trainees
Primary Purpose: Facilitates classroom and behind-the-wheel training to drivers. May facilitate additional training for existing employees in the district as needed for performance improvements or regulatory compliance needs. Maintains required training documentation and completions for compliance with state certification, district policies and state/federal requirements. Assist in completing and maintaining Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) documentation
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

High School graduate, or GED. Class B CDL with proper endorsements.

State School Bus Driver Certification, good driving record, pass D.O.T. physical.

Pre-employment drug test, and background check.
Special Knowledge Skills:
-
Have knowledge of motor vehicle laws of Texas and local transportation policies.

Have knowledge of bus vehicle parts.
-
Have ability to operate audio and visual equipment.
-
Have ability to teach and interpret the curriculum of the state bus driver certification course.

Must have computer skills.
Experience:
- Needs previous bus driving experience.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Communication in training exercises must clear and concise to ensure learning and to avoid misunderstanding of laws and procedures.

Conduct training for new employees in driving the bus and conduct re-certification courses for experienced drivers.

Secure enrollment certificates for new drivers as well as re-certified drivers.

Work with drivers in correcting poor driving habits.

Prepare reports for Region 18 on drivers trained.

Schedule and monitor evacuation drills as required, and any other duties as assigned by the Director.

Assist with morning and afternoon routes when needed.

Respond to accidents and complete all district/department reports and provide director information for post-accident testing if required.

Conduct retraining as needed or required.

Assist in the evaluation of bus stops and routes to mitigate driving hazards and hazards near or around school bus stops in conjunction with the Director, Operations Supervisor, and the Operations Manager: Routing.

Assist the Operations Supervisor and the Operations Manager-Finance and Compliance with HR functions related to compliance such as Texas School Bus Certification, recertification, physicals, driving records and required drug and alcohol testing.

Update and inform the Director and Operations Manager on trainee status and driver/monitor training and release dates.

Participate in all professional development as required.
