Primary Purpose: Direct and manage the Information Technology department to support the Technology Services division mission. Provide efficient and effective access to information and related technology by all campuses and administrative departments, in partnership with district and campus leaders to advance instructional and operational goals.  

 

Education/Certification: 

 

• Bachelor’s degree 

• Or College Degree and/or certifications preferred or equivalent on the job training or work experience.  

 

 

Special Knowledge Skills: 

 

• Knowledge of computer network, hardware, and software applications. 

• Knowledge of computer applications development and implementation. 

• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and data privacy compliance requirements. 

• Ability to manage personnel; coordinate district function. 

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. 

• Ability to build effective working relationships across departments to align technology solutions with district needs. 

 

Experience: 

 

• Broad, successful experience in all aspects of Information Technology including desktop support, server administration, email administration, network connectivity, and routing/switching. 

• Successful experience with project management and managing technical teams. 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties: 

• Oversee and ensure the successful implementation of the district wide network infrastructure plan. 

• Direct district cybersecurity practices, including risk assessment, incident response, and staff awareness training, to protect district data and systems. 

• Develop and oversee successful implementation of the district disaster recovery and cybersecurity incident response plan. 

• Develop and Information Technology 5 yearly plan, updated annually using data and feedback from campuses and district departments. 

• Oversee contract negotiations for district network hardware, software, maintenance, and related services. 

• Oversee the replacement cycle of district network infrastructure equipment. 

• Partner with campus and district leaders to understand emerging needs and align technology support services accordingly. 

• Identify opportunities to improve technology services, processes, and work flows through ongoing evaluation and stakeholder feedback, and lead implementation of those improvements. 

• Research and recommend emerging technologies and practices to improve district operations and attend professional growth activities to stay current in information management and technology. 

• Lead the development of staff training and improvement plans to ensure exemplary operations in information management and technology. 

• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department personnel, including direct reports, and make sound recommendations relative to placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal. 

• Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions in the Information Technology department. 

• Manage, direct, and assign priorities and personnel to major projects to ensure attainment of district and department goals and objectives.
